PENGUINS have brought festive fun to residents at an Amesbury care home.

Yesterday (December 20), Pringle and Charlie the penguins became the newest guests to arrive at Buckland Court, who were invited to roam the halls and entertain residents and families for the afternoon.

And residents had a lovely time according to home manager and organiser of the visit, Esther Thomas, adding: "Some of them thought we were bringing toy penguins so it was a lovely treat for them.

"It has been great, it was a shame the school children could not attend but it was very enjoyable for residents and very well attended."

The duo from private farm Amazing Animals were regularly fed fish and had photos taken with both the residents and children.

Esther added: "I just thought it would be something fun and different for the residents."

During the afternoon 86-year-old resident, Margaret Smith said: "It’s the first time I’ve seen them [penguins] so close, it was a very nice experience and you can tell the children are enjoying themselves."
