THREE cars were involved in a crash this morning along a major road near Amesbury.

This morning (January 9), at around 8:45am the three-vehicle crash on the A338, near the Dogs Trust site in Newton Tony, caused the road to be blocked both ways.

Emergency services were at the scene.

A statement from Amesbury police on Facebook said: "Due to an RTC the A338 is currently closed between the Allington junction and the Cholderton junction near Amesbury. Please find an alternative route."

The road has now been reopened and is clear of former traffic.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "We think one person has been taken to hospital as a precaution, but no one was seriously injured."

Two patients were treated at the scene by paramedics, and have been taken to Sailsbury District Hospital for further attention.
