LIGHTS decorating Salisbury during the festive season will now be left in place until spring.
Salisbury City Council has decided the lights in the market place and Guildhall Square will be left as they are to keep away post- Christmas blues and keep the area aglow during winter months.
New leader of the city council, councillor Jeremy Nettle, said the remaining lights will "brighten up these areas until spring comes", adding: “The lights are so lovely in the trees it seemed a shame to take them down when the city can be so gloomy in the winter months after Christmas."
The lights will remain in place until Friday, March 15.
Cllr Nettle added: “The Salisbury Charter Market runs all year offering a wide range of good and services and I encourage local people to support their local market.”
