HOMELESS charity Alabare is calling on the public to sign up for its Big Sleep event in Salisbury next month.

It takes place on Friday, February 1 at Salisbury Cathedral.

The Big Sleep is the Salisbury-based charity’s flagship event in raising awareness and funds.

This year will once again see 20 dogs invited to keep their owners company on the night.

By braving the cold for one night at Salisbury Cathedral Cloisters, participants will get a brief experience of what it is like to sleep rough, while raising funds.

Rebecca Mullen, Alabare’s fundraising and development manager said: “We are incredibly thankful that Salisbury Cathedral will once again be allowing us to hold our popular Big Sleep event.

“The introduction of dog’s last year proved to be very popular so we are looking forward to welcoming dogs again this time around.”

While spending the night in the grounds of the cathedral, everyone who signs-up pledges to raise a minimum of £100 to help support Alabare’s work in caring for the most vulnerable in our local community.

More than 200 people took part in the event last year.

Alabare provide accommodation and support to disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the community.
