VERWOOD residents were advised to stay indoors after two gas mains were damaged in a crash, which sparked a fire.
Dorset Police were called at about 8.25pm yesterday (Friday, January 12) to reports that a car had left Ringwood Road at the junction of Noon Hill Road before ending up in a driveway of an address and then catching fire.
Police say that residents in three nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution.
The fire service and staff from SGN were also at the scene. Fire crews from Verwood, Ringwood, Cranborne, Salisbury. Springbourne, Poole and Wimborne attended.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences and is assisting officers with their enquiries."
Residents were advised to stay indoors, keep their windows and doors closed and not to venture to the scene for their own safety.
Ringwood Road has now re-opened following the incident and the residents who were evacuated have been allowed home.
