A TWELVE-year-old boy was hit by a car while crossing the road in Salisbury on Thursday.

The boy had just got off a bus in Westwood Road, adjacent to Rambridge Crescent, and had started to cross the road when he was struck by a car at about 3.40pm.

He sustained some bruising to his right leg but no serious injuries.

The vehicle that struck him is described as a small red coloured car – the driver is described as an older white man with an older woman in the front passenger seat.

The driver got out of the vehicle and checked on the boy but did not exchange any details and drove off from the scene.

PC Jim Brown said: “It is likely that someone would have seen this incident – we are keen to hear from anyone who either witnessed it or anyone who has dash cam footage.

“The driver left the area along Westwood Road and was then lost to sight.

“Fortunately, the young boy did not suffer any serious injury – he went to Salisbury District Hospital as a precaution but was released the same evening.”
