THE famous tale of giving rich to the poor will be the next Christmas production at Salisbury Playhouse.

Watching a pantomime over the Christmas season has become almost an unwritten tradition for families, and Robin Hood will be coming to the Playhouse at the end of the year with a panto feel and a musical, festive twist.

The adaptation of the classic story has been written by Andrew Pollard, who has written the last four pantomimes for the theatre.

And after the success of Beauty and the Beast and The Night Before Christmas in 2018, the next show will be running from November 30 until January 12, 2020, to accommodate for ticket demand.

Additionally the team at the Playhouse has today announced that Beatrix Potter’s The Tailor of Gloucester will be the Christmas musical production for younger children and families, held in The Salberg (December 9 - 28).

Wiltshire Creative artistic director Gareth Machin said: “As in previous years, we’re delighted to offer something for everyone at Christmas time – from the very young who may be experiencing theatre for the first time through to the groups for whom pantomime is an annual festive tradition.”
