A MAN from Salisbury has been given a two and a half year driving ban for dangerous driving.
And as well as the driving ban, Robert Martin, of Whatcombe Brow (Orcheston), was also given a nine month prison sentence suspended for 24 months, and he must carry out 250 hours of unpaid work, adhere to a curfew, pay a victim surcharge of £140 and pay £500 towards Crown Prosecution Service costs, after appearing at Salisbury Crown Court on January 10.
On March 6, 2017, at 9pm, a Vauxhall Astra was spotted driving at speed in Amesbury, and despite being followed by officers on patrol the driver continued his journey.
The driver, Martin, was first seen travelling around a roundabout and heading back in the direction of Solstice Park.

Once the pursuit began the 33-year-old continued at speed, performing dangerous overtaking manoeuvres, before turning onto a track off Milston Road where the chase came to an end.
PC Jonathan Brunt said Martin had intially denied being the driver during the incident, adding: “Martin has been obstructive and has failed to cooperate with police on a number of occasions.
"He eventually pleaded guilty in court last week and has been sentenced for his actions."
PC Brunt added: “His manner of driving back in March 2017 was dangerous and put the lives of other road users at risk during the pursuit.
"He was driving at speed, overtaking on blind bends, driving on the wrong side of the road and almost colliding with other vehicles. He was very lucky that nobody was hurt as a result of his careless actions.”
