A CCTV image of the suspect in a robbery at a bookmakers in West Moors has been released by police.

Shortly before 8pm on Wednesday, a man entered Ladbrokes in Station Road, jumped over the counter and threatened staff with what appeared to be a meat cleaver or large kitchen knife.

He stole cash from the safe before making off from the scene.

The suspect is described as being around five feet ten inches tall and of stocky build and had blue fabric stretched over his face. He was also wearing a black hooded top, dark trousers and red gloves.

Detective Constable Garry Weston, of Bournemouth CID, said “We are continuing to carry out enquiries into this incident and I am now in a position to release a CCTV image of the suspect.

“I appreciate his face is covered but I am hoping that someone might be able to recognise him from his build, profile and clothing he is wearing.

“I would urge anyone with information as to his identity to contact us.

“As well as detectives investigating the incident, local officers from the neighbourhood policing team have been carrying out reassurance visits in the area and at other bookmakers in East Dorset.”
