WITH the Corps skiing meetings completed, the Divisional ski competition, Exercise Spartan Hike, took place in Serre Chevalier with mixed results for local teams.

I MERCIAN who won the Infantry Championships, failed to repeat their form. The best local team was 1st Regiment, Royal Horse Artillery with their Ladies Nordic team winning the10km Cross Country and 4 x 5km Cross Country races with the team placed 2nd overall, with Captain Jess Wood 2nd individual and Lance Bombardier Becky Sedcole placed 5TH.

The Men’s team achieved 4th in the Team Slalom and 5th place in the Downhill. Other individual success included Lance Corporal Tom Killoran placed 6th in the Slalom with Lance Corporal Laurie Owen of 5 RIFLES 11th and Staff Sergeant Kieran Curran of 1 RHA 12th.

Two soldiers from the Royal Tank Regiment, Lance Corporal Daniel Lambert and Trooper Nathaniel Bulmer qualified to go onto the Army Championships and Trooper Connor Crocker was 3rd placed novice in the Alpine.

In the Nordic discipline, the Patrol Race, the Blue Ribband event, the best placed Men’s team was the Royal Tank Regiment who were 15th, with 1 RHA, 1 Royal Welsh and 5 RIFLES coming 22nd, 23rd and 24th.
