A “REMARKABLE” 105-year-old from Wilton will be remembered for her “can do” attitude and the “amazing legacy” she has left behind.

Wynne Ranger died peacefully on January 11 and was being cared for at Maristow House in Salisbury.

In a tribute, her family said: “Wynne had always had a “can do” attitude. This was evidenced by her mantra “nothing’s going to beat me that can’t talk”.

“When Wynne took up crochet for the first time – most people crochet a circle and put it under a vase on a table, not Wynne, within days a three piece suit had been created, not bad for a first attempt.

“When Wynne was having an upside down day, she would always refer to it as “I don’t know if I am on ship or horseback” a phrase which will always remind her family of her.

“Wynne’s party piece was touching her toes and evidence remains of her completing this with a very large smile and a laugh on her 105th birthday.”

In May, Wynne celebrated her 105th birthday with a carriage ride around the city before heading to a party at the Rose and Crown in Harnham.

Special permission was granted by Salisbury Cathedral to allow her to use the route around the Cathedral Close.

The tribute said: “Wynne loved the attention. Her visit was the weekend of the Royal Wedding 2018 and Wynne was waving to the locals as if she was the Queen.

“The residents of Salisbury helped make her day and she was constantly smiling and waving.

“Magical memories remain for all friends and family members.”

The tribute added: “Wynne’s family will always remember a remarkable lady, and the lessons she has taught - you can do anything and always believe in yourself - an amazing legacy for anyone.”

A short service and burial is being held at Michael’s Wood Woodland Burial Ground, Cholderton Estate, Salisbury at 12.30pm.
