A SALISBURY gym with around 400 active members will be closing its doors in March.

Gymies, in Blakey Road, has been a provider of gym facilities and personal training since 2003, but with new landlords asking for the building back to expand their own business, the gym can no longer call Volpoint House its home.

And with no success finding a new site and too many gyms already open in the city, the team behind the gym has decided to cease work in Salisbury completely.

Owner of Gymies, Dave Taylor, said he felt "frustrated" he was unable to find another premises in time, adding: "After 16 years of providing a popular and friendly gym and personal training service in Salisbury, we have to close our doors due to our new landlords not renewing the tenancy agreement.

"We've always been a very busy little gym and as can be seen by the online responses to us closing, our members and staff are as upset as I am.

"We've been like a big family and that has always been my aim - to not just be a gym but to be a place to feel included, welcome and at ease."

Following the closure Dave will continue a personal training service in Churchfields, and will be selling the gym equipment and kit.

Gymies will be running as usual until Friday, March 15, and after that direct debits will be cancelled and outstanding membership fees reimbursed.
