A NEW headmaster has been appointed at Leehurst Swan School,

Terence Ayres will start the role in September this year, and the governors of the school have said they are "delighted" with the appointment.

Terence is an English and Religious Studies graduate and his career has spanned over 22 years.

He joins the school from Thorpe House School in Gerrards Cross where he has been the headmaster for five years.

A statement from the school said: "During his time at Thorpe House Terence has made large scale changes to the school which has vastly improved the school’s facilities, staffing, creative arts, sport and extra-curricular life."

Terence said: "[I am] very much looking forward to building on the strong foundations laid by Stuart Morgan-Nash and interim headmaster Philip Oldroyd and driving the school forward so that it fulfils its great potential.

Stuart Morgan-Nash had only joined the school in August, but died in December after a short illness.

He added: "I am driven by a desire to provide young people with the very best learning opportunities."
