I HOPE the official advice from Public Health England and Wiltshire Council to us not to pick up litter unless we dropped it does not deter people from using their common sense like Ruth Harris. Throughout the past year my husband and I have litter picked in our local park and children’s playground with long arm pickers and wearing gloves. We will also pick up glass on cycle paths or like Annie Riddle beer cans. I know we are not alone. As regular pickers we know what is new litter and the old has been cleared long ago. The city council and BID are working hard but they cannot be there all the time. I believe that leaving litter around encourages more people to drop litter and they seem to think it is someone else’s job to pick it up. I do not read of anyone being fined for dropping litter.
We have a great city let us encourage everyone to look after it.
