A SALISBURY estate agents is helping look after the environment by offering water bottle refills.

In an attempt to prevent single-use plastic while saving people money, Hamptons International has partnered with Refill to offer a free service refilling water bottles.

The company on Castle Road, Salisbury, is part of the first national estate agents chain to partner with the initiative, which has already supplied more than 800,000 users with water.

Chris Husson-Martin from the city's branch said he is "proud" the team are involved with the Refill project, adding: "The main thing is we are celebrating our 150th birthday, and how to look after the planet for the next 150 years.

"If one in ten people refilled, 340 million plastic bottles would be saved in the UK which is an awesome statistic.

"This is just one thing we can do to help, and we are so proud to be the first estate agents in the UK to take part."

The scheme is first of many environmentally focused initiatives that the estate agents want to launch this year, as part of its project to help the planet in the workplace.

Lesley Cairns, managing director of Hamptons International, described the initiative as "simple and effective" and an "easy way to make a difference", adding: “Hamptons International is delighted to be the first national estate agency brand to join Refill.

"Hamptons has a network of 90 branches, all in prominent high street locations, so it makes perfect sense to invite those looking for a water refill into our branches to prevent the purchase of single use plastic."

There are around 15,000 Refill stations, including the 90 Hamptons International branches, that can be sourced by downloading the Refill app.

Lesley added: "By downloading the app and using Refill you can help reduce plastic waste and save money along the way."
