A NEW festival offering trail runs, cycles, obstacle courses, orienteering and wellness workshops will be coming to the Isle of Wight this summer.

The inaugural Trail Festival will take place from July 19 to 21.

In association with event organisers GP Sport, The Trail Festival will be the first of its kind.

Evolving from the iconic Night Rider and Night Runner checkpoint challenge, The Trail Festival will incorporate this popular sunset event as well as a whole host of other activities over an action-packed weekend.

Charity partner for the festival is The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, so those taking part will be helping transform the lives of young people in recovery from cancer.

By supporting the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, young people in recovery from cancer can discover a future they may have never thought possible.

The Trail Festival invites families, avid runners, cyclists and those wanting to try something new to the Island. The off-road courses cover chalk trails, farm tracks, bridleways, and spectacular views.

Attendees can choose to run, ride or relax — whether you decide to test your physical ability or recharge your batteries, organisers say this is a weekend not to be missed.

Set at Cheverton Farm, between Newport and Shorwell, there will be live music, food and drinks, and free wild camping.

Weekend tickets are £70 for adults, or you can enter the individual Night Rider and Night Runner events on the Saturday for £25.

Children under 16 go free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Red Funnel are offering discounted fares for those travelling to the Isle of Wight for The Trail Festival.
