A TEAM from a dentists in Salisbury are taking part in the Walk for Wards this year to raise “valuable funds” for the Stars Appeal’s MRI Scanner Campaign, after a member of their staff was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Zoe Noble, 25, is a dental nurse at THE dentist, Salisbury, and was diagnosed with a grade two brain stem tumour in December last year.

She said an MRI scan at Salisbury District Hospital potentially saved her life, and that she and the THE dentist team, made up of nine people, want to help the “amazing cause”.

Zoe said: “[After] two years of suffering, six different doctors, six different explanations, countless medications and jokes about being a “medical mystery” from medical professionals, I was finally sent for an MRI scan at Salisbury District hospital.

“My face had dropped significantly on one side and my GP was worried.

“I had two scans and was called back in within a week to be told all of my symptoms were caused by a tumour on my brain stem and that I would need to undergo a lot more treatment.”

Zoe still has nine days left of radiotherapy, before a four-week wait for a further scan, after which radiotherapy treatment starts.

On taking part in Walk for Wards, Zoe said: “My lovely colleagues at THE dentist and I, are doing the Walk for Wards on July 7, to raise valuable funds to help Salisbury District Hospital in getting a new MRI scanner.

“With another scanner available we’d be able to cut waiting times and see more patients.

“Having that scan has potentially saved my life! THE dentist team and I would be honoured if we could help in funding towards this amazing cause.”

On THE Dentist’s fundraising page, which has set a fundraising target of £1,000, a statement says: “We want to help raise money so more people like Zoe can get their MRI appointments quicker and can get the help they need.”
