THE 47 Regiment RA Regimental rugby team played the Pilgrims in the Army Rugby Union Bowl final last week. In atrocious conditions and against a physical and fit opponent 47RA were victorious 26-7.

With the weather conditions playing against their natural running rugby, the team adjusted and played the physical game; the Pilgrims game. With a lot of hard tackles, crash balls and competitive scrums 47 gained the advantage. They held their discipline throughout and demonstrated and excellent skill and team work.

There is still one game to play which is against Larkhill based 32 Regiment RA in the MacKenzie Cup final. The result is a great achievement for a team which formed up this season

Elsewhere, 74 Battery (The Battle Axe Company) conducted its annual ceremony of ‘Trooping the Axe’ last weekend celebrating the history and battle honours which give it its name. Joining the celebrations were members of the Newbury and District Branch of the Royal Artillery Association and music was provided by the band of the Parachute Regiment.
