A MAN in his 20s has been reported to court after being caught driving with a child with no seatbelt on.

Officers stopped a vehicle in Amesbury yesterday afternoon (March 14) after being flagged down by a member of the public who had concerns that the car had an unrestrained child travelling in the back.

The vehicle - a Toyota Avensis - was stopped by officers and had five passengers on board, one of which was a toddler who was not in a seat.

There was also no MOT on the vehicle, and a tyre with no tread.

PC Aaron Pedliham, of Team 5 Community Policing Team in Amesbury, said: ‘I would like to thank the member of the public who flagged us down and made us aware of this vehicle.

"Due to their actions, we quickly located the car and took action against the driver.

"I'd always encourage the public to continue to report concerns like this to the police.

"Road safety is an important policing matter, and this driver showed a clear disregard for traffic law and the safety of his passengers and other road users."
