BABIES will be leaving hospital with their own special, unique blanket thanks to a Salisbury running group.

On Wednesday (April 24) members of ladies running group, Sarum Sisters, visited the Maternity Unit at Salisbury District Hospital to donate the batch of blankets, that will be used in cots and be gifted to newborns.

The blankets were made by Wendy Lucas, Kathryn Dreyer, Ellen Singleton, and Denise Von Roretz, and they were presented to the NICU and postnatal staff.

Midwife Monica Edmonds, said: “Hospital staff appealed for blankets and hats for maternity last year as the laundry cost was very high.

“We have around 2,500 deliveries a year so we are delighted to receive donations, and the new mums love them.”

In the past the running group has made decorations for Salisbury Park Run and has donated toiletries to the Women’s Refuge.

“I love it when my midwifery world and my running world, Sarum Sisters, collide as I am so proud to be part of both,” Monica added.
