A CELEBRATION was held to recognise the city's number one status for having the lowest littering rate in England.
Salisbury City Council was today joined by its street cleaning contractor Idverde and East Hampshire District Council who provide litter services to celebrate Salisbury being ranked as one of the cleanest cities in the UK.
The Solar Centre ranked Salisbury as number one for having the lowest littering rate in England.
The city also came top in the 2019 Sunday Times Best Places to Live list.
“It’s a privilege to live and work in Salisbury” said Jeremy Nettle, the leader of Salisbury City Council.
"If we all play our part we can keep our city clean and litter free."
The celebration also marked the dedication of Salisbury City Council’s environmental services department who along with Idverde and East Hampshire District Council help keep the streets clean.
The city also has many litter bins available to visitors and residents and it’s this teamwork that helps keep Salisbury clean and tidy.
