RAIDERS used a digger to smash their way into a Ringwood garage in the early hours of this morning.
Significant damage has been caused to the Shell garage and Budgens on the A338 Salisbury Road at the junction with the Headlands Business Park.
Police said they were called shortly before 2.25am to reports of a burglary at the Windmill Service Station.
"A digger had been use to remove a cash machine from the wall. Significant damage was caused to the building," the spokesperson said.
"An investigation is in its early stages and we are keen to hear from anyone who has information about what happened.
"In particular, we would like to hear from anyone who was driving in this area at this time and noticed anything suspicious."
The garage is taped off and forensics officers are at the scene.
One witness said there's a "huge hole" in the side of the building.
Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting the crime reference number 44190172801.
