FREDDIE Scheske became the first German rider to win a round of the OVO Energy Tour Series during a memorable night of racing in Salisbury.

Second in Aberdeen last Thursday, Scheske broke away after 26 laps of racing around the Salisbury city centre circuit and never looked like being caught.

Clancy, the winner in Salisbury 12 months ago, led in the bunch behind Scheske, heading home Jacob Hennessy (Canyon dhb p/b Bloor Homes) and Madison Genesis duo Jon Mould and Richard Handley.

Vitus Pro Cycling p/b Brother UK claimed their first team victory in series history.

In the women’s race, Rebecca Durrell edged her team closer to their maiden title with her second race win of the week, just ahead of Team Breeze rider Rhona Callander.

Callander’s Breeze team-mate Jess Roberts was third, but Gabriella Shaw and Charmaine Porter in fourth and fifth means that Brother UK – Tifosi p/b OnForm sit three points clear and just need to finish in the top four at Brooklands to claim the women’s title.
