A SPECIAL celebration was held to mark the official opening of Fordingbridge's new skatepark.
The opening jam took place on Saturday (June 1).
Fordingbridge Town Council has been working with the local community and former New Forest District councillor Roxy Matcham to bring the project to fruition.
Work on the skatepark was carried out by Maverick, who organised the skatepark jam event.
The total cost of the project was about £130,000 and more than £100,000 of income and funding. Fordingbridge Town Council allocated £46,000 and a further £1,100 was given by Councillor Matcham from her district councillor grants. All the Cool Stuff in Fordingbridge also raised £700 and New Forest District Council gave a grant of £25,000.
The metal skatepark structure in the recreation ground was replaced with a concrete one, which will have a longer life span and lower maintenance cost.
