SALISBURY FC manager Steve Claridge is delighted with his second signing of the summer, after snapping up super shot stopper Gerald Benfield.

The goalkeeper like the Whites' previous summer signing striker Toby Holmes, he has swapped Wimborne's KoolPak Stadium to play at the Ray Mac next season.

The 21-year-old has been a mainstay of the Magpies' squad since joining the Whites' Southern Premier League South rivals Wimborne from Wessex League Premier Division side Hamworthy United in 2016.

He has been signed for a small fee and there is also a sell-on clause built in as well, as the goalkeeper is very highly rated and expected to play at a much higher level."

A delighted Claridge said: "He is someone who has always played well against us and I am really pleased to have signed him.

"With the addition of Marcus (Beauchamp) who is back from injury after missing the whole of last season, we now have two quality goalkeepers at the club."

In other news, Matt Partridge has left Salisbury after one season, to join big spending Gosport Borough.
