IT’S promised to be an ‘out of this world’ experience.

Winterslow Village Fete takes place this weekend, but the traditional fete and community event will have a modern feel this year as the event will have a space theme.

On Saturday, expect rocket ships, astronauts and aliens as a procession makes its way from the Village Hall to Winterslow Recreation ground, opposite Winterslow School. School children and local groups have created their own interstellar floats to wow the crowds as they travel through the village accompanied by tractors and classic cars.

The fete itself will feature a range of fete games, community stalls, fun and games as well as a BBQ and licensed bar. In addition, there will be a tug-of-war competition between super-competitive teams and groups.

It will launch with the procession at 1.30pm and carry on into the night with live music and a BBQ at the Lord Nelson pub, just a stone’s throw from the recreation ground.

Village resident and one of the event organisers, Matt Dann, said: “We are really excited about this year’s village fete and hope lots of people from far and wide come along to see Winterslow at its very best. It promises to be a fun-packed day with something for the whole family.”
