THE first ever "Beating Retreat" is set to be held at Old Sarum to mark the start of National Armed Forced week.

The military ceremony will be held by Salisbury-based Armed Forces charity Alabaré and will feature The Royal Artillery Band, on Monday June 24 .

Rebecca Mullen, Alabaré’s Fundraising and Development manager says: “Alabaré look forward to welcoming this fantastic event to mark the start of the Armed Forces Day celebrations in Salisbury.

"We are so delighted that English Heritage’s Old Sarum Castle has agreed to host this event as this will be a first.

"We are also thankful for the sponsorship of Elbit System which will enable the funds raised during the event to support more homeless Veterans who come to Alabaré.”

All funds raised from this event will go towards Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans.

Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans provides accommodation and support for Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
