A MAN who escaped prison earlier this year has been caught and charged.

Jason Sufi, aged 39, of no fixed abode, escaped from HMP Springhill Prison in Buckinghamshire on Wednesday, February 20, after he failed to return for an evening roll call.

He was serving a nine year sentence for burglary, false imprisonment and robbery.

A £5,000 reward had been offered for information leading to the capture of Sufi, including an incident in Amesbury involving a knife.

Sufi was arrested in Islington on Wednesday and was charged with escape from lawful custody the following day.

He will be appearing at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, July 5.
