A POLICE officer has been assaulted in Amesbury after responding to a call.
The officer attended the scene of a separate assault call, before being assaulted herself, sustaining reddening to her head.
At around 11am, on June 11, the first assault occurred in Flower Lane, near to Salisbury Road.
Two males were involved in the confrontation, which resulted in a 19-year-old being assaulted.
When an officer attended the scene, she was then assaulted.
A 37-year-old man from Salisbury was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a constable and assault by beating.
He was taken to custody and has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
