PUPILS are celebrating after returning home from a sporting competition with seven wins.
On Wednesday, June 5, thirty students from Leehurst Swan School travelled to Exeter for the ISA South West athletics regional championships, with four of the group going for gold in their field and track events.
The winning students have automatically qualified for the national athletic event, held in Birmingham on Wednesday.
Year 9 Eleanor Mould won the gold in shot and javelin, Year 9 Ben Collingridge came first in the 800m and high jump, and Year 5 Libby Hemming beat the rest of her competitors in the 600m race.
Finally Immy Tanner from Year 10 came first in both the 300m and 1,500m, who said: "Training is going really well and it’s good to have this win ahead of the ISA athletics nationals next week."
Head of PE for Leehurst Swan, Fi Pearce, described the day as "thrilling", adding: "There was a great display of determination and encouragement of others."
