TWO Monty Python super-fans are getting married at a Python-themed wedding in October.
John Wood, 59 from East Grinstead, Sussex, and fiancé Gemma Harris, 35 from Netheravon, are set to tie the knot on Saturday, October 5, the 50th anniversary of Monty Python.
John and Gemma met after John set up a
dating site exclusively for Python devotees, Pythonesque Dating, and spent their first date watching the live Monty Python show at the 02 Arena.
John, the UK's biggest Python fan, started Pythonesque Dating to find a kindred spirit and believing a shared love of its humour was a good way of match-making.
In 2017, Gemma said 'yes' after John popped the question in front of two of their idols, Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam, on the day of her 33rd birthday.
The wedding will be Monty Python themed, and the couple plan to act out famous sketches from the show, including the famous "Buying a Bed" sketch.
They have also created Python-themed props to be used during the wedding, including this "Holy hand grenade of Antioch", that Gemma has made to double up as the ring holder which will be used in the wedding ceremony.
Other props will include a specially made albatross from the Albatross Sketch, which they had made by a TV and film prop maker, a nine-foot dead parrot commissioned for the top table, and a spam menu from the spam sketch.
The couple are also hoping to get a personal note or a video message from any of the Pythons to be read out, or played, at the wedding.
