IN support of Carers Week, Home Instead Andover and East Wiltshire are working together with the Dementia Action Alliance to improve the resources available to people caring for a loved one with dementia. They have donated a series of books to Wiltshire Libraries entitled ‘Confidence to Care’ which is full of advice and practical tips on caring for a loved one at home.

Amesbury Library has created a Wellbeing Corner where you can find a range of literature on health and wellbeing all of interest to those caring for another at home. They also offer concessionary memberships for carers and for readers who need extra assistance to access library services. For anyone who finds it difficult to visit the library, a Home Library service is available.

Nell Light, Home Instead director, says that it is really important for professionals in their field to pass on helpful and relevant advice to all of those who are either facing living with dementia for the first time or indeed just looking for ways to make it easier. This is a great example of the work that the Dementia Action Alliance can do to help joint working between local businesses and local services.
