PROPOSALS for 74 homes on land at Burgate Acres in Fordingbridge will be going on display and residents are invited to have their say.

A public exhibition is being held by Metis Homes on Tuesday, July 16 which runs between 4-7pm at Avonway Community Centre in Shaftesbury Street.

The site is located to the north of The Burgate School and has been identified as a site for development in the New Forest District Council’s (NFDC) emerging Local Plan, which is currently undergoing examination by planning inspectors.

Metis Homes’ says its plans for the site comprise 74 new homes with parking and areas of public open space.

The proposals also include a new access onto the A338 and upgrades to the existing surrounding highway network.

Adam O’Brien, the managing director at Metis Homes, said: “As a business we place significant emphasis on quality over quantity, and we take community consultation during the planning process very seriously to ensure our development proposals are well informed by local expertise and priorities.

“This public exhibition is an opportunity to display our proposals for the site and secure feedback from the local community and stakeholders which, where possible, would be fed into the final plans before we submit a full planning application.

“We believe our proposals will sympathetically deliver much-needed new homes, including family housing and smaller homes, on a site which has been earmarked for development by the Council.

“We look forward to speaking with local residents at the public exhibition on Tuesday and welcome feedback on our plans to help us deliver a high-quality scheme, which complements the local area.”

A planning application has not yet been submitted to NFDC. Metis Homes says it will review the feedback received as part of its consultation before finalising its plans and submitting an application in the coming months.
