A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker in Salisbury.

The 40-year-old has also been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and committing a racially-aggravated public order offence.

Yesterday at around 6.30pm, Wiltshire Police was called to the incident in Gigant Street where a woman was taken to hospital following an injury to her arm.

A heavy police presence was witnessed at the scene.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We were called to a domestic incident at an address in Gigant Street, Salisbury, at 6.30pm yesterday.

“A woman in her 40s was taken to hospital for treatment for an arm injury and has since been discharged.

“A 40-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, a racially-aggravated public order offence and assaulting an emergency worker."

The man is currently in custody at Melksham Police Station.
