AS ONE time capsule was unveiled in Amesbury last week, showcasing a decade of history, another was buried that will be left underground for the next 25 years.

The first time capsule was laid in the Bowman Centre grounds by Radian and Amesbury Town Council in 2008, containing pictures of children from Amesbury Archer primary school, and their ideas of what the future was going to hold.

Pupils included a host of information about life in 2008 such as details of their favourite toys, food and hobbies.

And now the latest time capsule project asks contributors the question - how do you see your community?

The time capsule ceremony on Thursday began with a speech from mayor of Amesbury Fred Westmoreland, followed by unearthing the old capsule, burying the new one, and finally there was a closing speech from deputy mayor Rhod Evans.

The newest time capsule, which will now be left untouched until 2044, includes a vast selection of created items, including letters, writing and pictures from pupils of Amesbury Archer primary school and Wind in the Willows preschool.

Pupils from the Stonehenge School contributed a series of memorabilia, including ways in which they have helped local and foreign communities, involvement in charity work including the Big Sleep, and stories of the Princess Royal's visit.

And residents outside of school also donated to the capsule, with objects ranging from written up memories and tips to pictures of famous visitors and price lists.
