IT'S time to put on your dancing shoes as Salisbury Does Strictly makes a welcome return to the city.

A special launch event with a pop up dance display was held in the Guildhall Square in Salisbury ahead of the showstopping dance event in September. Dancer waltzed, tangoed and boogied their way around the Guildhall Square to whet the appetite of locals and visitors for the glitzy night of dance.

This year Salisbury Does Strictly will be featuring professional dancers Ian Waite and Erin Boag of BBC1's Strictly Come .Dancing fame who will be performing a showcase of dance for the audience at The Stones Hotel, High Post, near Amesbury on September 21 to raise vital funds for Salisbury Hospice Charity. Last year the inaugural Salisbury Does Strictly raised £18,000.

On the night there will also be a chance for people to strut their stuff in a dance competition in front of the two Strictly stars Ian and Erin who will be part of the judging panel, which will also include JC from Elevate Dance School and Samantha Jarvis from Starcast Dance School. And previous dance experience is not essential as wannabe dancers will be taught a routine by a local dance teacher leading up to the event.

Organiser of Salisbury Does Strictly organiser Jackie Edmett said: "All the competitors that took part last year thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a range of dance abilities and they had the opportunity to meet the professionals, this year it’s Ian Waite and Erin Boag, so they’ll meet them as well. If people buy VIP tickets they can meet and greet the celebrities. The audience loved the fact that it was so up close and personal. It’s set to be another fabulous evening this year and we’re hoping to raise another significant amount for Salisbury Hospice."

Jackie added: "If you love Strictly then you have got to be there."
