A BISHOP Wordsworth’s pupil has been invited to a residential camp at the University of Cambridge after winning a chemistry challenge.
William Armstrong, in Year 12, achieved the top award in the competition, finishing in the top 50 of 9,000 entries nationwide.
The competition takes the form of a written exam which assesses students’ understanding of the higher level aspects of the A Level chemistry course.
There are also questions which test the ability of students to apply their knowledge and understanding to unstudied areas of chemistry.
2019 is the International year of the Periodic Table so many of the questions were linked with this.
Four Bishops students achieved a Gold award, five a Silver award and 15 a Copper.
Will, who is taking maths, further maths, chemistry and politics for his A-Levels, said it felt “amazing” to win the invitation, and is “really excited” for the residential camp at the end of August.
