A SALISBURY bar has closed, just over a month after its alcohol license was stripped.

@Home, on Bridge Street, was a hub for a range of activities and events, however was told at the beginning of June it could no longer serve alcohol following noise complaints and police call outs.

The community hotspot was briefly rebranded as a Bring Your Own Bottle (BYOB) venue, but has now been closed and @Home signs have been removed from the premises.

Despite this, bar owner Louella Adamson has launched a new campaign, Let's Make Salisbury Great Again, in a bid to bring the hub and all it offered back to the city, by finding a new site with new ideas and sponsorship.

Described as "rising from the ashes", Ms Adamson has recently launched a crowdfunding page online, @home Salisbury 2:0, in an attempt to raise £30,000 to start her project and secure a new site in the city.

So far around £1,000 has been raised.

In a video post on Instagram, Ms Adamson said she had been working on the concept for @Home for seven years.

She said: "I'm going to put my passion into something new. I wasn't ready to give it up yet and you obviously weren't ready for it to go and I'm so pleased that I brought something and that it worked.

"I'm not ready to let go of Salisbury, it's my home town, there are so many creatives that live there and so many people yearning for this kind of thing, that I want to be able to give it to people."

The entertainments venue for the community had always offered a jam packed line up of non-alcoholic events including learning languages, salsa classes, cultural film nights, drag nights and quizzes.

In the meantime some of the classes will now be held in different venues, including salsa classes in Studio X in Sarum Business Park.
