A MAN has been arrested, after being chased by police, for a series of charges including dangerous driving, taking a vehicle without consent and assaulting an emergency worker.
Additionally he has been arrested for possession of stolen items and failing to stop during a short pursuit.
At around 1.35pm today a vehicle failed to stop for police on the A30 north of Salisbury, and following a short chase the green Land Rover Discovery crashed in a field south of West Winterslow.
The driver then fled the scene and officers have been searching the area since, supported by a police helicopter.
A heavy police presence has been spotted on Southampton Road in connection to the incident.
The man is now in police custody.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said:“The driver fled the scene on foot and officers, supported by the police helicopter, have been out searching the area.
“A male has now been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, possession of stolen items, taking a vehicle without consent and assaulting an emergency worker."
