A SALISBURY man has blamed a "fundamental safety problem" after his foot went through his balcony in his flat.
Sean Finn, 37, lives in a second floor flat in the Longhedge Village, just past Old Sarum.
Last Thursday, he went onto the balcony for a cigarette, and says his "foot just went straight through the floor".
Sean added: "My whole leg could have ended up going through the floor, but thankfully I managed to avoid that.
Sean works away from home frequently, and estimates that he has only been in his flat for around six months of the two years he has had it.
He said: "There must be a fundamental safety problem.
"There are families that live on the estate with little children with balconies just like mine. If this happened to a child, they would be seriously hurt, they could go straight through it.
"I didn't want to make a big deal out of it, but I am just thinking of public safety."
A spokesperson from Linden Homes, who own Longhedge Village said: “Following inspections of the customer's balcony at Longhedge Village, we have found no underlying or further problems but we agreed to replace the board within two days of being notified.”
