SALISBURY’S award-winning festival, Celebrate Voice, has unveiled revolutionary plans for its 2019 festival, including assembling a 200-seat pop-up theatre in Salisbury’s Guildhall Square.

Running from October 25 to November 2, the festival will for the first time bring all their celebrity and community events under one roof, including international stars from the worlds of opera, jazz, music theatre, folk, cabaret and comedy.

The Wilsons Piccolo Theatre was built for, and has only ever appeared at the Edinburgh Festival, and its appearance in Salisbury marks the venue’s English debut.

The programme features a top line-up of musicians, from international opera singers for a new production of The Marriage of Figaro, to top names in jazz, cabaret and music theatre.

The festival is embarking on its most revolutionary year yet.

The festival will also experience a new venture into comedy with award-winning film star, Dave Johns, from ‘I, Daniel Blake’ fame.

Festival founder and artistic director, Lynsey Docherty, said: “This has been a dream for many years, to bring a venue to Salisbury which will enable all the festival events to take place under one roof, in such a prominent setting as the Guildhall Square.

“Support for the festival has grown year on year, with most events selling out in 2018.

This success has enabled us to take a big leap forward by bringing such a fabulous venue to Salisbury and celebrating some of the best musicians in the industry in the heart of our wonderful city.”

Lynsey added: “It is also a great year for people to take part, not only in the community events as a participant, but as a volunteer.

“Life-long friendships have been created as a result of bringing people together, enabling people’s creativity to flourish, and building a successful festival as a community.”

The festival rely wholly on financial support from business sponsors, and philanthropic donations.

There are still a couple of opportunities to sponsor before the production of 20,000 brochures, and those who become Friends of the Festival will benefit from a priority booking period as well as exclusive Celebrate Voice events in return for support.
