A WOMAN was punched and pushed to the ground during an assault in the city centre.
Police say the incident took place on Sunday, August 4 at around 12.30am.
The victim, a 24-year-old local woman, was checking on the welfare of an intoxicated teenager on the Guildhall steps when she was approached by two female teenagers who became abusive towards her.
The victim walked off towards Butcher Row and the taxi rank on New Canal, but was followed by the two abusive teenagers.
They punched her and pushed her to the ground causing bruising to her forehead before walking off towards Butcher Row/Minster Street.
The main suspect is described as white, mid-teens and approximately 5ft 4” – 6” in height. She had blonde hair in a messy bun and was wearing a black hooded top with a white coloured Adidas logo on the front and dark coloured leggings.

Police say the victim did not sustain a serious injury but was understandably distressed.
