JEWELLERY was stolen from two South Wiltshire homes during broad daylight yesterday.

Between 12pm and 1.30pm, a house in Shortlands, Wilton, was broken into by smashing the glass of the back door, before jewellery was stolen.

And the second burglary took place at a house in South Street, Great Wishford, between 12.30pm and 5.15pm.

During the second incident a rear window was broken, and once again jewellery was stolen.

PC James Barrett, from the Community Tasking Team, said: “We are keeping an open mind about whether these two incidents are linked, but they are in relatively close proximity and had similar items taken.

“Both these burglaries happened in broad daylight and, although the properties were empty at the time, there is a strong chance neighbours or passers-by may have seen something suspicious.”

Anyone with information should call PC Barrett on 101, quoting crime references 54190080227 for the Wilton burglary, and 54190080334 for the Great Wishford burglary.
