TEDDY bears of all shapes and sizes took over the Cathedral Close in Salisbury for a special event on bank holiday Monday.

The teddy bears’ picnic was held to support Save the Children.

Activities included storytelling, crafts and a fancy dress parade.

Children got into the spirit and came dressed for the occasion as their favourite characters. Costumes were inspired by characters like the Gruffalo as well as pirates and princesses.

Su Lycett, of the Salisbury branch of Save the Children, said: "Monday was a lovely afternoon, great atmosphere, perfect weather.

"Our thanks to all the volunteers who helped made the day a success."

There was entertainment from Julie Lindsay (Just JuJu), Hadyn Ingram and Woodford Ukulele Band.

In the lead up to the event youngsters were encouraged to take part in a bear hunt to find the 100 bears hiding in windows around the city.

Around £500 was raised which will support Save the Children’s Children’s Emergency Fund.

The Bear Hunt will be back next summer but this was the last Teddy Bear's Picnic in The Close.
