THE new Ringwood Carnival Queen Tierney Long has started the countdown for this year’s event.

The 16-year-old began a busy few weeks by attending a photocall with key sponsor Ellis Jones Solicitors at its Monmouth Court office.

She said: “I have always loved the carnival and always look forward to it each year. As Queen I hope to inspire and to share some of my love and passion but also magic to anyone watching.”

Carnival day is on Saturday, September 21 and includes afternoon and evening processions.Events on The Bickerley include a fun fair and a grand firework display evening finale.

Ringwood Carnival President Michael Lingam-Willgoss who thanked Ellis Jones, and other carnival sponsors, for their “fantastic support.”

He added: “Ringwood Carnival is a truly great community event. By supporting us so generously local firms such as Ellis Jones really cement their position at the heart of the community.”

The first Ringwood Carnival was held in 1928 with the event held every year since 1950.
