A NEW defibrillator has been unveiled thanks to the help of parishioners and the borough council.
The Public Access Automatic External Defibrillator has been installed at St Andrews Methodist Church, following support from members of the church and Test Valley Borough Council’s Community Grant Scheme.
On Sunday, September 1, church members welcomed their new minister Reverend Andy Fitchet, who takes over pastoral care for both St Andrews and Bridge Street Methodist Churches in Andover, with afternoon tea.
After which Rev Fitchet dedicated the new defibrillator, praying that it would never be needed but that it would help save the lives of those that may need it.
The equipment was donated by the members of St Andrews church in memory of Tony Brooks, who had suggested that the church provide a defibrillator.
A church spokesperson said: “The church members felt that it was a suitable memorial to Tony, who had dedicated his life to helping others as a nurse, a paramedic and as a trainer of paramedics.”
The council grant was organised by Millway councillor Allison Watts.
