A 19-YEAR-OLD has been arrested after a van was targeted and damaged in West Winterslow earlier this week.

On Wednesday at around 9.45pm, a group of men in a BMW had been seen driving down The Street, causing damage to a Ford Transit.

The small holes in the vehicle are believed to be caused by an item which would fire ball bearings or pellets.

The 19-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm and criminal damage.

He has since been released on police bail while enquiries are ongoing.

Detective inspector Nicki Davey said: “Fortunately, nobody was injured during this incident – however, the damage caused to the vehicle would suggest that something has been fired at it, causing small holes, which had the potential to cause injury to a passenger or driver.

“We would like to hear from anyone who lives in the areas of The Street, Plantation Road, Recreation Road and Yew Tree Close, who may have private CCTV footage, or anyone who was driving in the area who may have a dash cam fitted to their vehicle. You may have unknowingly captured footage which could be vital to our investigation so please do get in touch.”
