SALISBURY FC dropped points for the third league game in a row against Metropolitan Police, losing 3-1 at the Ray Mac.

They also lost to the London side in last season's play-off semi-final.

In truth, the Whites never looked in the game, and were chasing it from the start.

Jack Mazzone, who scored twice against Salisbury in the reverse fixture last season, put his side ahead in the 16th minute, with a goal that was all too easy.

A huge gap at the back afforded the front man far too back time and space at the back, with Colson caught between two players having to cover for the absent centre back.

He comfortably got a left footed strike away into the bottom right hand corner.

Smith got a hand to it but it wasn’t enough.

Two goals came in quick succession just before the half-time whistle.

First, for the home side, Toby Holmes somehow forced an equaliser - capitalising on a defensive error, he smashed the ball into a defender from the by-line, and it flew into the net.

Manager Steve Claridge would've been happy to go into the break with honours even, but that man Jack Mazzone had other ideas.

Another defensive error from the Whites allowed the forward to wrestle Amankwaah off the ball inside the six yard box, and he made no mistake it slotting it home. 2-1 at the break.

Almost straight from the restart, Assal doubled the visitors lead, having been generously left unmarked to convert a free header.

Salisbury had a number of chances to get themselves back into the game, a couple of headers falling agonisingly wide of the post, but they could not convert decent chances, and Met Police closed out the game with relative ease.

Met Police deserved the win, with both their centre forwards putting in excellent performances.

Up next for Salisbury is a trip on Tuesday night to Weston-super-Mare, before their FA Cup second round qualifying fixture away to Portland United next Saturday.
