DURRINGTON Swimming Pool has today reopened following a £230,000 refurbishment.

Improvements to the facility, on Recreation Road, include a complete re-lining of the swimming pool; tiles replaced with an anti-slip surface to make them safer; and new flooring and decoration for the fitness suite.

The pool's boiler room also had its pipework upgraded.

Allison Bucknell, cabinet member for leisure at Wiltshire Council – which owns the site, said: “I’d like to thank our customers for their patience while these essential works have taken place.

"I’m delighted with the results and I’m sure you will be too. We can’t wait to welcome you all back to the pool and show off the huge improvements the centre has made.”

This is part of a wider series of developments including installation of a new front entrance and new windows, which cost £60,000.

A spokesperson for the council added: "There has also been work taking place behind the scenes to make the building more efficient and reduce the number of required service/maintenance visits per year."

The pool is open from 6.45am Monday to Saturday.
