A WILTSHIRE school has appointed a new headteacher.

The New Forest School welcomed Caroline Whittaker as its new head at the start of the academic year.

She said: "I am extremely proud to have been appointed as the new headteacher of The New Forest School.

"We haves come along way in the last year and staff and children have worked really hard to ensure that we have embedded excellent learning across the school.

"With improved KS2 SATs results from 52% reading, writing and maths in 2018 to 82% in 2019, there is a renewed focus on high expectations and standards across the school."

She added: "Alongside this we continue to develop the whole child and with all of the school stakeholders contributing, we now have the new school vision of 'Learning Together through Friendship and Faith'.

"This in underpinned with strong Christian values which are focused around Fairness, Kindness and Hope.

"This is a really exciting new start for the school and we have lots of plans for further development."
